Ludhiana: In order to create a special corner for the kids Ahsaas Foundation in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) has started getting the graffiti of famous cartoon and comics characters on the walls of under bridges of Southern Byepass in Ludhiana. Through this graffiti art, they convey different social messages. Currently their focus is on Save the Girl Child campaign or Beti Bachao.
Various famous national and international characters from the past have been given space on the walls of the city becoming ‘Graffiti Capital of India’. Ahsaas Foundation completed its project of painting pillars by wcontributing its bit in Swacch Bharat Abhiyan by painting graffiti on two pillars outside Exit gate of Railway Station, Ludhiana. The pillars gave the message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. Ahsaas president, Sangeeta Bhandari said, “I really feel proud that the NGO has contributed in the clean city mission and is awaking the people regarding girl child education.” Mehreet Kaur, a student said, “I am good in painting but never got a chance to paint the walls and the pillars but after doing this I really felt proud that I contributed my talent of painting in making this city beautiful and colorful.
” SukhmanJot Singh said, “Contributing for making this city clean and green and making it beautiful gives the great pleasure to the visitors coming to our city from far places.” Kirti Khanna, another student said, “The initiative taken to make this city graffiti capital is really good as it will not only create our city a wonderful look rather the colourful characters will give the message to children to keep their city clean and green.” Agrimpreet Singh said, “I am feeling very proud to see our city so beautiful.
