Ludhiana: A man died and five person suffered injuries after a speedy pickup truck rammed into five vehicles at Dholewal chowk on Tuesday morning.
The driver of mini truck lost the control over steering and rammed into two motorcycles, cycle rickshaw, a three-wheeler and a car.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Kumar of Jalandhar. He was employee at an overseas shipping company at Dhandhari dry port.
The injured are Rickshaw puller Kesar Pal of Giaspura, Kamlesh Kumar, passenger of rickshaw, Ram Singh of Moti Nagar, his wife Reeta, Three-wheeler driver Lakhwinder Singh and Ashok Kumar of Haibowal.
Kamlesh Kumar, Ram Singh and Reeta suffered serious injuries. The injured have been admitted to Satguru Pratap Singh Hospital and Civil Hospital.
After the incident, driver of the pickup truck fled after leaving vehicle on the road. The Division number 2 police seized the pickup truck and registered a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence against the driver.
