Ludhiana: Preparation for the Kabaddi World Cup 2016 matches are moving at full pace as the opening ceremony will be kicked off at Rupnagar on November 3 and the closing ceremony of the matches will be held at Jalalabad on November 17.
On being contact, Punjab Kabaddi Association president and Cabinet Minister, Sikander Singh Maluka, said the trials for the team formation will be conducted on September 29 and 30 at Guru Nanak Stadium. Players from across the country will exhibit their talent in the trials as some of them will get selected for the matches. Trial date decided for the women is November 4 and 5.
Maluka further added that there would be 12 men’s teams and 8 women’s team. He said the prizes for the winning teams remained the same as the last year. Around Rs.20 crore will be spent on the Kabaddi World Cup 2016 matches.
He also said that “we have sent invitation to all the 12 teams except Pakistan observing the sensitive situation with neighbouring country”.
Maluka also stated that Ludhiana will get a chance to organise one of the Kabaddi World Cup matches which will be held at the sports stadium in Sarabha village on November 5. Preparations regarding the matches is moving at its full pace and will soon be completed.
Members of the national anti-doping agency will conduct the dope test of the players after the selection in the trials and almost 30 players will be selected for the world cup matches, he further revealed.
Harbans Singh, Kabaddi Coach said that the players are very excited for the world cup matches which will be kicked off in the month of the November. This year number of players may increase as much enthusiasm has been observed among Kabaddi players. Harbans mentioned that with having no shred of doubt, India will uplift the level of the country in regard to this game in Kabaddi World Cup 2016.
