LUDHIANA: Sukhdev Singh Sidhu, son of Gurbachan Singh Sidhu, will be honoured by the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at the Kisan Mela for playing a crucial role in the whitefly management as a nodal officer from the State Department of Agriculture.
An alumnus of PAU, Sidhu joined Department of Agriculture, Punjab in December 1984 and served as Agriculture Inspector and Agriculture Officer till 2015. Currently, he is serving as Deputy Director Agriculture (Cotton Extension) in the Department of Agriculture, Punjab. He has been instrumental in preparing action plan for Kharif 2016 with the help of PAU, proposal of budget allotment for cotton development programmes and preparing month-wise action plan for cotton crop.
As a member of Interstate Consultative and Monitoring Committee, he convened the meetings in coordination with PAU. He also arranged video conferences, field visits and meetings with the team of Government of India for development of cotton crop during Kharif 2016. He has delivered six radio/TV talks as Deputy Director Agriculture (Cotton Extension).
