Mohali: Mohali, a peaceful city, was forced to witness the worst traffic jam, noise and air pollution during the roadshows held by the Congress as well as the Aam Adami Party (AAP) on Thursday. Both the parties took the city residents by surprise as these held road shows and polluted the atmosphere with noise. These roadshows marred the city’s peace. The roadshows which were held to seek votes by both the parties turned out to be a show of strength. All types of traffic rules were violated by those who participated in the road shows.
“ I just want that residents of the city should choose a leader with clean image”
The trend of election campaigns are changing these days. People are becoming simply people are becoming onlooker to an era where the privacy and the rights of any citizen are not breached. City residents, who were aware of their rights, found themselves at the receiving end during this show of strength.
An former Army officer and former Deputy Commissioner who is the SAD candidate from Mohali Capt TPS Sidhu said”, “I never believed in hooliganism which is why I filled the nomination papers along with a few of my family and handful people accompanied me. We attempted to begin a new trend of peaceful elections and people of Mohali liked the same and we received massive support from all over of the district. Unlike others we avoided to interrupt the residents. Others had invited singers, held car rallies and road shows etc. marring the peace of city.”
Though, there are things that we cannot be proved but these exist, he goes on. Liquor is being served, shawls distributed, money put in the pockets of the voters and many things that we or anyone else cannot prove happens, he said.
Making a fervent appeal to the voters, Capt Sidhu said that voters should decide who should be their leader. I just want that residents of the city should choose a leader with clean image and the one who have vision to create Mohali as a green, peaceful and a reputed business and trade centre.
