Patiala:In a significant action, the Patiala Police on Tuesday arrested three accused in the Nabha jail-break case.
The incident which rocked the state as gun-toting unidentified persons attacked the jail at Nabha on Sunday morning and escaped with six inmates, including the chief of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) Harminder Singh Mintoo. Those arrested include the assistant jail superintendent Bhim Singh, head warden Jagmeet Singh and Tejinder Sharma, owner of Shagan Sweets Shop in Nabha.
It may be mentioned here that both these jail officials were among the 30 accused in the case registered by the police regarding the Nabha jail-break case. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that the role of the assistant jail superintendent Bhim Singh and the head warden Jagmeet Singh was found to be doubtful.
When asked about the arrest of the sweet shop owner, he said that his name figured during the investigation of these two jail officials and
he had some role to play in the crime.
When asked about the other private persons’ involved in the crime, he said that still SIT was investigating the incident and nothing could be said with finality. It may be mentioned here that only on Monday, the jail officials were investigated in the jail premises by the team of the SIT.
