Nawanshahr: The Sadar Police here have arrested a person of nearby village Malpur Arkan for a case registered against him under section 302 of IPC. As per FIR lodged by Bahadur Singh, a resident of village Malpur Arkan, his elder brother Jaswinder Singh was murdered with an iron rod by Rashpal Singh alias Pala on Tuesday evening following an altercation over some issue. The deceased was married to a maternal-cousin of the accused and both of them used to fight over trivial issues often after having liquor, said the complainant in his complaint. He said he saw the accused repeatedly hitting his brother with iron rod when he, along with his son, reached their fields on Tuesday evening to search for his brother. The accused ran away from the scene after their arrival and he took his injured brother to a private hospital here where the doctors referred him to PGI next day. His brother succumbed to his injuries at PGI, said the complainant.
The city police here have registered a case under sections 406, 420 and 120B of IPC against five persons, owners of a rice mill located in a village of Pyal Tehsil in Ludhiana district, on a complaint filed by three traders of Dana Mandi here. The complainants said the owners of the mill approached them in 2014-15 and entered into an agreement them for purchasing paddy. In total they purchased paddy worth Rs 94,57, 296 from but paid them Rs 50,39,376 only. As rice millers were refusing to pay them their remaining Rs 44,17,920 on one pretext or the other, they decided to lodge the complaint. The case has been registered following an enquiry by DSP, Nawanshahr.
