Ludhiana:Ludhiana police department had installed 50 check posts at different areas in the city to stop traffic problem and hooliganism which is mostly seen on New Year eve at different markets and places in city. As many as 477 challans have been issued by traffic police department to different traffic violators here on Saturday.
This time, more check posts were installed by traffic department in the city to maintain law and order. There were total of 50 check posts under eight check posts were installed only to see drunk drivers. Importantly, police have recorded the data that Ola taxi company has dropped the drunk people who opt for taxi by themselves that is 180 in number.
As many as 50 special check posts were put up by the police in the bustling areas of the city, including Sarabha Nagar, Model Town, Ferozepur road, in front of malls, and Aarti Chowk.
Out of 469 challans, 138 were for not wearing helmets, 138 for not wearing seat belts, 32 held for triple riding, 65 vehicles have been impounded by the police, 2 challans for reflector, 19 challans for drunken driving, 61 challans for speed radar, 34 challans for wrong parking, 65 vehicle have been towed by police.
Police have given warning to several residents for creating nuisance on roads and playing loud music in vehicles at midnight. The police put up barricades at various places and entry to Sarabha Nagar was restricted to control hooliganism.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Traffic Dr. Sachin Gupta IPS officer said, “We have managed all the traffic problem easily as there was no traffic problem on New Year Eve. However, violators have been nabbed during check post. Moreover, department has done their duty
However, several people were seen creating nuisance mainly at Malhar road, Sarabha nagar market, Ferozepur road by playing loud music in cars. However, police have also strictly warned the youth at Sarbaha Nagar market on Saturday late evening
Most of the youngsters were seen making their groups at different areas in city and making nuisance with loud music and disturbing the pedestrians claimed by the city residents.
