Patiala: The Tripuri Police claimed to have recovered 3 kg Opium and Rs 30,000 from a car during a surprise checking operation and later a case has been registered against four persons one of them was a woman.
According to the police recovery was made when a police party headed by the Sub-Inspector, Darshan Singh was doing its duty on Jassowal-Seona stretch and near Seona village it started the checking and after some time the Police party noticed one car No PB-10DU-0502 coming and it was signaled to stop for the checking and during the checking of the car whereas 3 kg of Opium was recovered and later Rs 30,000 was also recovered from the car.
The Police said that after making the recovery all the occupants of the car were taken into the custody and a FIR No 365 under Sections 18/ 61/ 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against the four accused, namely Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Raungla village, his wife Rani, Gurjant Singh, a resident of Jollian village in Sangrur district and Harpreet Singh, a resident of Sailwala village in Patran Police Station.
The police stated that all the accused be produced before the magistrate to get their remand as the police want to know from how much time they were in this work of smuggling of the intoxicants.
