Ludhiana: Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on the direction of Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal has given major relief to the industry by exempting the power press from consent of PPCB. Now, power presses will come in ‘white category’.
On the orders of Manpreet Singh Chatwal, Chairman, PPCB , a meeting was held in premises of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) which was presided over by Lalit Sharma. Director, PPCB along with Karunesh Garg, Chief Engineer, Samarjit Goel, SE and Paramjit Eingh SEE were also present.
In the meeting, the office-bearers of the UCPMA, including Charanjit Singh Vishkarma( president), Manjit Singh Khalsa (spokesman), Rajeev Jain (general secretary), Rajinder Singh Sarhali (director LETS), Satnam Makkar(joint secretary), Rajinder Singh (secretary), Avtar Singh Bhogal and Ajit Singla were also present. They explained to the officers of the department that the power presses are pollution free and are even being used by the micro industry.
Discussion regarding other issues such as generator sets, moulding, die casting, garment washing and rubber industry were discussed.
Manjit Singh Khalsa thanked the officials for the one to one meeting with the industry and on behalf of the UCPMA thanked Badal and Maheshinder Singh Grewal (Advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab) for the relief to the industry.
