Fatehgarh Sahib: A District consultative committee meeting was held on Wednesday at Bachat Bhawan, Fatehgarh Sahib under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kamaldeep Singh Sangha. In the meeting performance of the banks under various RBI parameters was discussed for the quarter ended September 30 . Apart from this the Deputy Commissioner advised the banks to give extra efforts for smooth implementation of Central Government’s demonetisation scheme.
He appealed to the general public that they should help senior citizens, relatives of patients and other needy people in getting withdrawal/exchange without queue. He also requested general public not to fall prey to the fake news/rumours being circulated by anti-social elements regarding withdrawal/exchange of old notes. While discussing the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) , Deputy Commissioner observed that the progress under these schemes is quite low. He said that out of approximately 4.10 lakh voters in the district 3.83 lakh voters are in the age group of 18-70 year, who are eligible for these two schemes.
