Ludhiana: A long-pending project to provide medical store to meet emergency of the medical help for the passengers at the Ludhiana Railway station is still hanging in to fire. The railway officials at the local railway station on requesting anonymity said that the project is still pending for clearance from the last two years but hoping to renew this project in January 2017.
Being the industrial hub, on the daily basis more than sixty to seventy thousand passengers’ board train each day at Ludhiana Railway Station so there is the dire need of a medical store mainly at the platform number one. If anyone suffers from headache, fever or any other medical problem and wants medicines then there is no medical store available to take the medicines during trains halt.
In the absence of medical store, passengers have to go out of the railway station at the backside of the station to railway hospital to take the medicines and there is no grant of getting the required medicine at their store. But maximum trains don’t stop for more than five to ten minutes so it is not possible for the passengers to leave the train and go back to take medicine. The passengers demand that like the eatables available, similarly, there should also be a medical store opened at Ludhiana Railway station.
The Shane-E-Punjab passengers at Ludhiana Railway Station, Rajiv Sharma said, “To meet medical requirement there is no medical store at platforms of Ludhiana Railway Station. Even in the cold weather, anybody could be victimized with cold and cough for that one could easily get medicine from the store if it gets opened up.”
The Divisional Railway Manager, Anuj Prakash said that “The project is in pipeline and delay is on the part of the higher authorities only to float tenders. Large number of passengers travel from the Ludhiana Railway Station. Medical store is must. I think it should be on each platform as these days maximum people take one medicine or other. We are just waiting from the clearance by Railway Ministry from the New Delhi.”
