Patiala: Once known for reeling under a severe financial crunch, Pepsu Roadways Trasnport Corporation (PRTC) has finally emerged from its turmoil period and once again started flourshing and flying high as it is now going to add 100 more new ordinary buses to its fleet soon.
This was revealed here on Tuesday by PRTC’s Managing Director (MD) Ravinder Singh, speaking exclusively with Daily Post.
He said that now the bad days of PRTC were over and it was now showing signs of improvement and the financial situation had improved considerably. Elaborating, he said that it was earning Rs 17 to Rs 18 lakh in every month and till March 2016 it earned about Rs 7 crore.
Speaking about the new addition of 100 more new ordinary buses in PRTC’s fleet, he said that PRTC has already placed an order with Ashok Leyland for these and very shortly they would receive chassis’ of the buses and after that the work of the fabrication would commence.
The MD further said that this time the management has decided not to go for the fabrication work from outside and instead it is going to entrust this work to its own fabrication unit. He stated that PRTC is having its own fabrication unit but it was not utililsed since long and this time this unit will start working.
He said that earlier, the management had introduced 350 buses under various categories and they are in operation in its fleet. When asked about the total number of buses in PRTC’s fleet, he said that at present, it has 1,050 buses in its fleet. He also claimed that with the introduction of the new buses and effective use of them, PRTC is saving on consumption of diesel as well as now, these buses gave handsome average.
When asked about the payments of salaries and pensions and other benefits to its employees, MD Ravinder Singh said that every pensioner is now getting his pension by 10th of each month, whereas the regular employees are getting their salaries by 15th of each month. He further said that by PRTC had cleared all pensionery benefits to those who have retired on December 31, 2015 and nothing is pending.
He also said that the total salary and pensions of PRTC was around Rs 8.50 crore and Rs 6.50 crore, respectively.
