Ludhiana: More than 10,000 default power connections have been disconnected by Punjab Power Corporation Limited in past 15 days in city. According to the officials of PSPCL, power consumers default amount is pending in crores though with the motive to generate revenue, as department is taking strict action against the violators.
However, department has specially organised the drive to take action against the violators as PSPCL is bearing severe loss in pending amount from industrialists. However, most of the power connections which were being cut down by the PSPCL are of industrialists.
According to the officials of PSPCL, they are taking strict actions against the violators as now there is surplus power supply to all the power consumers so there is need of paying the electricity bill as PSPCL is bearing severe loss from past several years.
Gurpreet Singh, executive officer of Sundar Nagar division said, “Under my division, 1000 connections were disconnected of different power consumers defaulters in past 10 days. However, we have given notices and also have given reminders to the defaulters multiple times to pay the needful but still in vain. We are again requesting the power consumer defaulters to pay the bills otherwise connections will be cut down soon”.
Mandeep Singh Sidhu, superintending engineer (SE) of PSPCL said, “In east circle, more than 4000 connections have been disconnected in past 15 days and soon more connections will be disconnected those who have not paid the electricity bills.
We are again requesting the defaulters to pay their default amount as PSPCL is bearing lose in crores”.
According to the sources, department is very active to take action against the violators as there is no government formed in state though officers are not under influence of any leaders and taking strict action against the violators and revenue of department will be increased under this manner.
