Patiala: Employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) from across the state are converging in Mohali to participate in proposed ‘massive dharna’ cum march on Friday to protest against the Punjab government and the anti-employee policies of PSPCL management, as the talks on the issue failed.
A six member delegation of the Joint Action Forum of PSPCL Employees organization today had a long meeting with the Punjab Secretary (Power) and the PSPCL’s Chairman Cum Managing Director (CMD), Er K D Chaudhary over the demands of employees.
But it failed to end the deadlock. A statement by a member of the Joint Action Forum, Karam Chand Bhardwaj here late evening said the talks to resolve the matter concerning long pending demands of the PSPCL employees failed to make any headway owing to government’s indifference.
“The state government is continuing with its anti-employee policies, because of which the Joint Action Forum has decided to carry on with its proposed protest dharna cum march. The employees of the PSPCL will assemble in Mohali near Gurdwara Aumb Sahib and take part in the protest march,” Bhardwaj said.
He claimed that thousands of employees will participate in this march as they are coming from different parts of the state to show their solidarity.
“The state government has adopted an indifferent attitude towards the long pending demands of the employees. Though the PSPCL management has already agreed upon some of the demands, it is not ready to implement them. It is not ready to even regularize the services of work charge employees working for long time,” he held.
Bhardwaj said that the state government employees were getting much better salaries compared with PSPCL employees since 2011. “But the state government is not ready to provide the same to our employees. The government is responsible for this agitation,” he said.
