Ludhiana : Democratic Swaraj Party (Punjab Front) is all set to launch a movement for implementation of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE Act -2009). Monthly meeting of Democratic Swaraj Party of district Ludhiana (a constituent of Punjab Front) was held at party office. Members of district committee discussed the anarchy in the field of school and higher education in private institutes. Members expressed their deep concern at prevalent naked commercialization of education in these so called ‘temples of learning’.
Members who were appointed by the party to collect information about the functioning of private educational institutes informed that not even a single school, private or Government is following the RTE Act 2009. Violation of these schools is given below: –
Students are not being admitted in the school through lottery system. No private school is providing free education from 6-14 years for the students of weaker sections of the society. No Government or aided school is being managed by the management body of parents as prescribed in the RTE act 2009. No school is following the guidelines of CBSE and PSEB regarding fees.
After discussing these things in detail, the party decided to launch a people’s movement to press the local authorities for implementation of this law. First step in this direction will be to submit memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana and Commissioner Municipal Corporation as local authorities.
If these authorities fail to implement this law passed Parliament then a peaceful agitation will be started against the Government from December 1, 2016.
