Jalandhar: Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) president Amarpreet Singh Lally on Wednesday said that the youth congress leaders would burn the effigy of the SAD-BJP government for diverting funds meant for the SC/BC scholarships from Thursday.
The PYC president said that the youth congress would burn the effigies of Punjab government in every Lok Sabha constituency from Thursday and the state committee would gherao the Vidhan Sabha on September 8.
Lally blamed that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was diverting funds meant for the benefit of SC/BC students in Sangat Darshan programmes across Punjab. “Even a Vigilance Inquiry as stated by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the month of March was yet to begin in this scam”, he said.
Addressing a press conference, Lally said there were around 6 lakh SC/BC beneficiaries registered under the scheme in Punjab and the youth congress was committed to fight for the rights of the students. “The SAD-BJP combine was trying to hush the matter by issuing different statements but they have not done anything for the benefit of the students”, he added.
Further, terming ‘Badal-Modi’ as ‘dalit virodhi’ (anti-dalit), Lally said that the ruling SAD-BJP and the centre led BJP government has proved that they were against the rights of the dalits. “PYC would fight for the justice of the SD/BC tooth and nail”, he added.
On this occasion, he was accompanied by Abhay Singh secretary PPCC, Ashwin Bhalla, president LYC, Kaku Ahluwalia and Balbir Bunty.
