Ludhiana: Leading hotel of the city has been fined Rs 26 lakh for violating the food safety and standard Act 2006, on Monday at Ludhiana. According to the administration hotel Radisson Blu was selling the eatables below the quality standards rules 2011, meanwhile the administration has also imposed the fine of Rs 2 lakh to Chaurasia Pan Parlour.
The fine has been imposed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General)-cum-Adjudicating Officer Rishipal Singh.While providing the information, an official said that health officer Manoj Kumar Khosla had conducted the surprise check at hotel following the directions of ADC. During the inspection, Khosla had collected the samples of jam, noodles, “imli” chutney, curd and chutney from Hotel Radisson Blu on Ferozepur Road. Meanwhile, the samples of True Lemon (Ready to serve Beer) from Chaurasia Pan Parlour, Sector 32 A Market, Chandigarh Road.
He further told that the collected samples were checked as per the government process in the laboratory, all these products were below the quality standards under Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.
Taking the serious note of the violation of section 51 of Food Safety Act, the administration imposed Rs 26 lakh fine to Hotel Radisson Blu and Chaurasia Pan Parlour to Rs 2 lakh in the form of fine. The violators have been directed to deposit the amount in government treasury immediately. While giving a clear cut warning to those selling below standard food products, Rishipal Singh said that the violation of Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 would not be tolerated at any cost. He said that if any person is caught violating the act, hefty fines would be imposed on them.
