Ludhiana: As per Railway Board’s recent directions, eco-friendly and hygienic food will be provided to all the railway passengers as for this process division level officers are initiating best of their efforts. As they feel that it is the need of the hour that hygienic food should be served to the railway passengers observing the increase in number of outbreak of diseases and have issued the strict directions for its implementation.
The Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozepur Division, Anuj Parkash on the directions of the board issued the letters to all the railway stations of division including the Ludhiana railway station. As per directions, no stall vendor can sale edible items without wrapper. They have to sale pastry, patties, pakora, samosa, kulcha-chana and other eatables in a hygienic napkin or cardboard from the health point of view of railway passengers. Also, the directions are to keep environment neat and clean at the railway stations which would help in creating hygiene level.
In context to keep up the hygiene levels, a special list would be issued soon by the railway officers and they will tell the vendors the specific size of napkins and cardboard to be used for eatables. For the packing material the vendors can charge the extra money from passengers and the special list of charges has also been issued.
A team of local officers got signatures from all the stall vendors and explained them in detail the directions of the board and also warned them to not to charge excess of charges in the scotch of packing charges and whosoever would be found guilty will face the charges from the railways.
When contacted, Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozepur, Anuj Parkash said these steps are taken with a view to providing standard food to passengers. It will be useful for passengers and they will get eco-friendly and fully hygienic food. As per directions, unhygienic food would be strictly prohibited at the Ludhiana railway station and a special team would keep a vigil on it.
