Patiala: An indefinite hunger strike started by Balwant Singh Rajoana, assassin of former Chief Minister, Beant Singh, on Friday entered into second day. According to sources Rajoana on Friday has been found medically fit who on Thursday refused to undergo medical check- up.
These sources further confirmed that even as Balwant Singh Rajoana was not taking any food but he is taking water. Sources further added that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) , Lakhwinder Singh Jakhar visited Central Jail and met Rajoana, who is lodged in Kothi number 16. During the meeting DIG Jakhar asked Rajoana to give the department some time so that they can take up the issue with concerned departments. Sources quipped DIG sought time for 15 days but Rajoana turned down his offer saying that he want quick action over the issue as he has already spent 21 years in the waiting.
Rajoana on Thursday started his indefinite hunger strike in protest against the delay in final decision regarding his fate and come forward with a letter addressed to the Sikh Panth. In the letter he lashed at Congress, SGPC and political and religious sikh leadership.
He mentioned that SGPC without his approval moved a petition before President of India in 2012 , who stayed his execution immediately and after that SGPC has never taken up the issue again.
