Patiala: Balwant Singh Rajoana, assassin of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, facing gallows is on indefinite hunger strike on the fifth day in the Central jail here, against delay about his fate.
As he has developed weakness, after the medical check-up, he has been shifted to the Government Rajindra Hospital in a tight security cover, where he was put on the ICU at the first storey of the emergency ward.
According to the sources, Rajoana started feeling physically weakness late on Sunday, leading to check up by the medical team of the civil surgeon and the team from the Government Rajindra Hospital and
both the medical experts teams came to the conclusion that Balwant Singh Rajoana now needed special attention as his body was losing fast the much needed minerals.
After getting the report of the medical board, he was finally shifted to the Government Rajindra Hospital on Monday morning.
In the hospital’s ICU Rajoana was adament to continue his fast till the acceptance of his demand and refused to take the glucose or anything else.
Later Deputy Commissioner Ram Veer Singh and SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan also met Rajoana in the ICU and tried to persuade him to end his fast keeping in view his health condition but he refused
to take anything.
Rajoana’s Sister Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana also held meeting
with him in the hospital.
While talking to the media persons, Rajoana’s sister Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana said that her brother had refused
to take any kind of medical treatment even though his health was in
bad shape.
When talked to Principal of the Patiala Medical College and head of Medicine Department Dr B L Bhardwaj he said that kitones have shown downward trend and if this trend is not checked, may harm kidneys and other important organs. He said that he immediately needed glucose.
Interestingly the police have made elaborate security arrangements for the safety of Balwant Singh Rajoana in the ICU.
