Ludhiana: Tall claims of state government of being surplus power supply fall flat at ground level. As power consumers are getting infuriated due to erratic power supply regularly. Residents claimed that regular power cuts which were held without any intimation to the power consumers causing problems. However, many of the residents raised the issue of complaint number of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for attending the complaints properly. Most of the times the complaint number 1912 is not availabledue to which power consumers failed to solve the problems. Areas which got affected due to erratic power supply including Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, Maharaj Nagar, Dugri, Field Ganj, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Singhpura Mohalla, Rishi Nagar among others.
As summers had already set in, but PSPCL authorities are not prepared with proper back up of the power supply. The mercury is very high these weeks and power cuts are also increasing regularly due to which people are suffering from several problems. “I am requesting the authorities to take serious steps against this issue. Before starting of summers, State Government promised with regular power supply and also claimed with surplus power supply but all the promised are washed away” lamented by Harjot Singh resident of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar Ludhiana.
Many of the residents also raised the issue that department concerned should inform the area representative before the power cuts so that people should be aware regarding this and make prior preparations. Officials of the department claimed that development work of PSPCL going on at different areas by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Company regularly due to which power supply is being shut in particular areas. They also claimed that power cut schedule is also publishing in newspaper. Anmol Katyal resident of Rishi Nagar said, “There is regular power cut in the area for so many hours. I have given complaint few days back regarding the electricity problem but no concerned linemen came. During a visit to concerned electricity office, officers behave rudely and are least interested to resolve this problem”. N K Sharma, engineer in chief PSPCL said, “We are providing regular power supply among the power consumers. If there is erratic power supply I will direct the concerned officials to look into the matter”.
