Ludhiana: Members of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Study Centre (SBSSC), which was established in Arya College, Ludhiana, are planning to make a research centre and library.
According to available information, under UGC’s scheme of Epoch making-Social Thinkers of India, Shaheed SBSSC was established at Arya College, Ludhiana. Now, the centre is planning to make class library for students so that students can have all the information of the martyrs. The centre mainly organises functions which are based on spreading the message conveyed by the martyrs. The centre also celebrated the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha as “Yaad Rahe Kurbani” last year.
According to Prof. PS Bhogal, Head, Post Graduation Department of Political Science, the foremost effort was made to establish a working library of the centre. The UGC allocates a grant of Rs.50,000 for the purpose. He said that they used to keep on visiting to various schools and colleges to convey the message of the martyrdoms and to encourage the young generation to take part in social activities to make the nation a best one. He mainly shared that the young generation is ignoring the sacrifices made by the martyrs, which made our nation independent from the rule of Britishers. What the youngsters remembered is the posture of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in which he carried a pistol in his hand and another hand is on his mustache. But, they are not aware of the values and messages conveyed by him for the Nation. Youngsters are ignoring the journey while he was imprisoned. The centre is having 495 books which define his whole journey of how he struggled for independence.
For conveying the messages of martyrdoms, the centre is doing its best by organising seminars, book exhibitions and also their birth and martyrdom day in a method of distributing more knowledge about the martyrs among the nation. The lectures delivered in the schools were mainly on the life on martyrdoms so that students must know the value of their efforts and start thinking something for their nation. The centre is trying to interact with the old students of Arya College to make their contribution to enhance the study centre in a better way and also to make some efforts for it. It also approaches Prof. Jagmohan Singh, who is the nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to make his contribution while making the research centre and library in memory of the martyrs.
On September 28, on the birth anniversary of the martyr Bhagat Singh will also be celebrated in a good way by the members of SBSSC by visiting the schools, colleges and universities to convey the moral values.
