Mohali:Residents of Daun area and two other adjoining villages, near Kharar, have been facing inconvenience because of non-supply of water for the past five days.
People are facing a harrowing time in the absence of proper potable water supply. Some technical snag in the motor and obsolete machinery in the
water tank are said to be the main reasons behind the problem.Frequent disruptions in the water supply force villagers to rely on the water tank and ground water. Some people go to Gurdwara Daun Sahib to fetch water in buckets and bottles for cooking and drinking purposes.
According to villagers, “The authorities must provide two motors so that such a situation does not recur. This is the only water tank in the locality supplying water to the other villages also like Ramgarh, Ballomajra and private colonies having thousands of population. People living on the
first and second floors are the worst affected as it becomes difficult for them to carry buckets full of water to their floors.”Sarabjit Singh, JE, Water Supply Department, said, “Repair work has been delayed as similar situation has occurred at Landran and engineers are busy there. Now repair is over and we will install the motor back today.”
