Jalandhar: A businessman from Amritsar was looted of his Verna car, Rs 17,000 and two mobile phones at National Highway, NH1 at Kartarpur on Thursday morning. Robbers left the businessman in fields at Kishangarh road and were kind enough to hand over the victim Rs 500 for bus ticket. Kartarpur police is searching CCTV footage of nearby tolls to get a clue.
According to Sanjiv Kumar (35), he was going back from Delhi to his home in Amritsar. At 5:15 am the victim stopped his car on roadside to answer nature’s call. Just when he was getting down from the car, he found himself surrounded by five persons one of whom had a gun and asked him to drive towards Kishangarh road.
“They asked me to get down from car and gave me Rs 500 to buy a ticket for Amritsar. I requested some passerby and called the police from his mobile phone,” said Sanjiv Kumar.
DSP Kartarpur, Bhagirath Meena told media persons that they are checking CCTV footage from Amritsar and Pathankot Highways and from toll plazas set up on highways. “We have sent alert to all police stations of nearby districts and we are tracking mobiles snatched from Sanjiv,” said DSP.
