Ludhiana: The personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) could now be seen sitting in postures of ‘yogi’ to perform ‘asanas’ of yoga on every second Monday from next month.
As per the available information, the RPF personnel would start performing yoga from next month. This is to be done to burst their stress levels and to increase mental strength by meditation.
Enquiries reveal that with the yoga and meditation, other co-curricular activities would make them more active, healthy and fit to perform their duties round the clock.
The Railway Protection Force, Chief Commandant, Ferozepur Division, Alok Kumar said that as per the directions from higher authorities they would contact with a professional who can make them perform yoga and meditation on every second Monday of the month after their parade in RPF camp.
Kumar further said that they used to parade on every second Monday of the month, so the higher authorities thought that at least on Monday, cops who work overtime should get some kind of mental relaxation to perform their duties in much active manner in field.
“It would be a great relief for cops as their mind remains occupied to have a proper vigil and as a result they never get their mind relaxed. In this way, they would be able to get some kind of relaxation”, added RPF Commandant. He further added that it would be a regular feature in the future as well and authorities are hopeful that stamina among cops would be enhanced after performing the yoga and meditation.
He further informed that the higher authorities have taken this decision by consulting the psychiatrists and clinical psychologists that how the cops can be made more active in field and how can the stressed be reduced among cops. The doctors advised them yoga and meditation to be practiced in morning hours, which would also lessen down their weight as the cops nowadays are becoming more obese due to eating fast food frequently.
The medical experts said that yoga and meditation are usually considered as a largely spiritual practice, it also has many health benefits. The yoga and meditation techniques are being implemented in the management of fatal diseases, in transformation of molecular and genetic structure, in reversal of mental illnesses and there is dire need for the cops to indulge in stress busting activities.
