Ludhiana: Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Prant Seh-Sanchalak (vice-president) Brig Jagdish Gagneja (Retd.) who had sustained injuries after he was shot at in Jalandhar on Saturday was shifted to Hero DMC Heart Institute here on Sunday.
He is undergoing treatment in ICU No.2 of Hero DMC Heart Institute.
Enquiries reveal that he was shifted to the local hospital from Jalandhar this afternoon.
A large numbers of his relatives and leaders are visiting the local hospital to enquire about his recovery. Heavy police force is deployed in and around the hospital.
Those who visited the hospital included Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat and Commissioner of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh.
Besides team of doctors of the local hospital, a team of three doctors from PGI Chandigarh are present there to treat Brig Gagneja.
CPS Navjot Kaur Sidhu, BJP district president (Urban) Ravinder Arora, former Punjab minister Satpal Gosain also visited the hospital to see and enquire about the health and recovery of Brig Gagneja.
According to the officials of DMCH, 65-years-old Brig Gagneja was operated the previous night at Patel Hospital in Jalandhar by a combined team of DMCH and Patel Hospital. They further told that he had multiple gunshots injuries in stomach, small and large intestine and chest which have been treated properly surgically.
Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander at the hospital said presently, Brig Gagneja is on inotropes to maintain his blood pressure and his respiration is being supported by ventilator. He is being taken care of by the team of surgeons from PGIMER, Chandigarh and DMCH, Ludhiana.
Meanwhile Prem Gupta, General Secretary, DMCH Managing Society said, “Now the condition of Brig. Gagneja is stable and three doctors from PGIMER and team from DMCH are taking care of Brig. Gagneja. He was operated for his bullet injuries at Patel Hospital till 4 am on Sunday.”
Gupta also told that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was constantly in touch with him.

In an informal chat with the media persons, CPS Navjot Kaur Sidhu, chief parliamentary secretary said, “CBI inquiry should be made in this case so that required action should be taken soon.” She alleged that this incident is “state sponsored”.
Dy. CM to visit hospital tomorrow: DC
Ravi Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana said, “Now, the condition of Gagneja is stable and he is on ventilator and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal would visit Ludhiana to know about the health of Brig. Gagneja tomorrow.”
