Ludhiana: Municipal Corporation Ludhiana gets tough over the encroachment of vendors in main markets and areas of Ludhiana. Getting tough over roadside vendors and encroachers in markets MCL authorities get the main markets of city cleared from encroachers. Its best example is Sarabha Nagar market as last night MCL authorities have got the market clear from encroachers after which the Sarabha Nagar market was looking much wider and bigger than the usual days.
The roadside vendors were asked to leave place and encroachments being done by shopkeepers of the Sarabha Nagar market was also removed by MCL authorities. Now, no vendor is allowed to put his or her stall on the path, but just inside their shops only. If anyone would again encroach the place then they would be heavily fined by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana authorities.
Though, few residents who came to eat golgappas, momos and chat from their favourite vendors at the Sarabha Nagar market went disappointed after not finding their eatable vendors in market but at same time they appreciated tough move of the Municipal Corporation, Commissioner, Kamalpreet Kaur Brar. As the city residents rue that most of the markets have been encroached by the residents and shopkeepers who put up stalls up to the road only which leads to traffic jam.
Raj Kumar, a resident of BRS Nagar said, “It is a very good step by the Municipal Corporation Commissioner as it would ease out the traffic problem in the city upto a great extent. Even the roadside vendors should be put-off at the Ferozepur road as number of accidents takes place and traffic jam also takes place due to it. It is a daring act done by the commissioner and we support them in this good cause to make Ludhiana encroachment free”.
