The city police have established checkpoints in different areas and checked the vehicles. The police force was beefed up at entry and exit points of the city and every vehicle entering the city was checked by the security personnel. The vehicles with Light machine gun (LMG) were also stationed at main chowks.
In the afternoon, a checkpoint was established outside Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) where around four SHOs led by ACP-rank officer checked the vehicles. The police personnel also checked the luggage of passengers travelling in the buses.
After the two hours checking in afternoon, the checkpoints were lifted and in evening the police personnel again started checking of vehicles in the evening. However, the strict checking also triggered panic among the commuters and the residents. Though the checkpoints were established for checking for preventative measures yet the people feared entry of terrorists in the city. During the checking at checkpoints, heavy traffic jams were also witnessed and ambulances were also struck in traffic jams in the afternoon.
