Ludhiana: Immediate discontinuation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 four days back has affected the city residents in large. On the fourth day people are still found standing on long queues for withdrawing cash at ATMs and banks.
However large numbers of ATMs were seen closed or without cash though people have to suffer from several various people. People are not able to complete their basic facilities as invalid currency has made several problems.
Most the employees at petrol pumps are mostly refusing the currency due to which people have to suffer from several problems. However the recent raid conducted by income tax department at Neekamal jewellers where Rs 26 crore cash was seized has created the panic among the jewellers.
Though, in wake of raid most of the prominent jewellers are not opening their shops from two days.
According to officials of income tax department they would keep a tab on the jewellers for further raids that would conducted in coming days.
However, people are taking credit from grocery and vegetable market as there is no availability of cash easily among the residents. Most of the shopkeepers are not accepting the invalid currency due to which people have to suffer from several problems.
