Mohali: To conduct peaceful elections in the district for all three constituencies namely Kharar, SAS Nagar and Dera Bassi, sufficient arrangements have been ensured and polling staff after receiving polling material have reached at their respective polling stations. As such, 3129 polling officials will perform election duty for the polling day at 726 polling booths in SAS Nagar district. Stating this District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner D S Mangat said that voting will be held from 8 am to 5 pm.
There are total 6, 68,525 listed voters for all three constituencies of SAS Nagar district among which 3,52,376 are males and 3,16,127 are females whereas 22 are other voters. He said that in assembly constituency Kharar there are 2,20,994 listed voters of which 1, 17,052 are male and 1,03,938 are females and 4 are other voters.
To assist polling in Kharar 249 polling booths have been established whereat 996 officials will perform election duty. Each polling booth will be managed by a presiding officer along with 3 polling officers. Similarly for assembly constituency SAS Nagar there are 2,08,971 listed voters among which 1,09,779 are male and 99, 183 are females and 9 are other voters.
As such, to assist polling in SAS Nagar 225 polling booths have been established whereat 1125 officials will perform election duty. Each polling booth will consist of a presiding officer along with 4 polling officers. Meanwhile for constituency 112- Dera Bassi, there are 2,38,560 listed voters among which 1,25,545 are male and 1,13,06 are females and 9 are other voters.
To assist polling in Derabassi 252 polling booths have been established whereat 1008 official will perform election duty. At each polling booth will be managed by a presiding officer along with 3 polling officers.
SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal Said that for successful and peaceful conduct of polling, proper security arrangements have been ensured. He said that approximate 3500 officials and jawans of Punjab Police and para military forces will perform their duty with dedication. He said that for the polling booths at all constituencies of the district 1258 jawans of Punjab Police and 540 jawans of CAPF have been deputed. Besides this there are be 39 patrolling parties for monitoring and 16 SHOs, 7 DSPs, 6 SPs, will keep a close watch on polling booths. He said that 41 check nakas have been established in the district and 83 polling booths have been mark as sensitive whereas 1 polling station has been marked as critical. He said that nobody will be allowed to disturb the law and order during polling.
