Mohali: Sewa kendras, which were launched by the Punjab government with much pomp and show, have failed to serve the residents due to lack of proper system and other amenities. These Kendras were open to ease out various government services and to provide facilities to the common man, but public common man
Public have to wait in long queues to get their work done, whereas instead of ease out the system. Public have to pay more for services. People have to wait for hours outside rooms of officers to get their files marked by the officers.
“To get the permission of sound, fixed government fee is Rs. 10 only, but these sewa kendras are charging Rs.240 for giving permissions.” says Surinder sing resident of phase 3B2 mohali.
“To get any permission from pollution and police department, people had to suffer in these concerned departments by their own. If the work get done then fine otherwise we have to chase sewa Kendra employees.” Says Atul Sharma resident of phase-2 Mohali.
On one side government promised public to provide services within specific time, but reality is general public could not get their work done for 2-2 months.
To get certificates of birth, death, SC/ST/OBC and marriage registration etc people has to take several rounds to these seva Kendras, public have to go to Tehsil offices.
Municipal councilor Rajidner Sharma says,” these sewa Kendras are dummy and they did not do any “sewa” of public. People had to waste their whole day for small works. it is totally wastage of time and money.”
“A work which can end up in minutes took whole day due to inefficient system adopted by administration. “He added.
When approached on the issue, in-charge of a sewa kendra kamal, manohar thakur and mohit denied blames of poor services. They claimed they did not get any complaints about services.
“The sewa kendras are meant for helping the residents with their works related to the district administration that were earlier done at suvidha centers. These kendras seem to have been launched in haste as there are no facilities for the visitors,” said Amarjit Singh.
