Amritsar: As the controversial movie ‘MSG: The Messenger’ featuring Dera Sacha Sauda , chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is all set to be aired on a private television channel on September 17, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sought intervention of Punjab chief minister to ban the relay.
The movie’s screening as such was already banned in the state, and so was its sequel, claiming that it would create a law and order problem and hurt sentiments of the Sikhs. Since the February 2015 release of ‘MSG’, and its sequel, ‘MSG-2: The Messenger’, that came out in September last year, now the trailer of a third movie is already out.
SGPC president chief Avtar Singh Makkar said: “We will ensure that the dera chief ’s movie is not aired on the TV channel. The state government should ban it.” The Punjab government had in 2015 banned the screening of ‘MSG’ in the state following objections by Akal Takht and radical Sikh groups. “As assembly elections are round the corner, airing of the movie can vitiate peace in Punjab,” the SGPC chief said. Besides the SGPC, the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee had also sought a ban on the movie .
