Mohali: The Health Department conducted a special medical camp in Sohana village after sudden rise of diarrhoea patients in the area. For the last few days, cases of vomits, loose motions, diarrhoea etc were rising in the village. In the meanwhile, the Health Department took a quick action.
The department not only conducted medical camp, but also took samples of drinking water and sent these to laboratory.
According to information, three weeks ago, two cases of cholera were reported in the village. Villagers blamed that drinking water supplied to them was polluted. Inspector Dinesh Chaudhary of Health Department said that last month also patients of diarrhoea had increased. At that time, samples of drinking water had failed. Later on, the department wrote a letter to the concerned department and problem of polluted water was solved.
Now once again, the numberl of diarrhoea patients has gone up, the department conducted medical camp. Although no fresh case of cholera was reported. Doctor Sangeet Pal and Doctoer Deepika examined the patients. The doctors said that if the water supply was not improved, the situation can turn worse.
The Health Department team also took round of the village. SDO water supply Gurpreet Singh said that matter had come to their knowledge and the staff were doing their best to solve the problem. He further said hat the department had installed chlorine plant also in the village.
“We are in coordination with other departments. We also asked for sewerage cleaning machine to clear any sort of blockage,” he added. He assured people that problem would be solved as early as possible.
