Jalandhar:Upset over not getting ticket, Dalit Congress leader Tarlochan Singh Soondh is all set to contest as an independent candidate from Banga (reserve) assembly seat.
An announcement in this regard was made by Tarlochan Soondh during the death anniversary programme of his father Jagat Ram Soondh, where he stated that he would be contesting the election as an independent candidate.
Soondh is the sitting MLA from Banga and was expecting a ticket in these elections. He said that the Congress ignored his contribution and fielded Satnam Singh Kainth from Banga this time, who was a defeated candidate. Kainth has lost the previous 2012 assembly election from Adampur (reserve) seat.
Soond a senior Dalit leader and in-charge of Doaba was left high and dry, after the Congress fielded Kainth from Banga (reserve) assembly segment.
Daily Post has in these columns reported that Soondh was likely to contest as an independent candidate in the polls.The senior Dalit leader maintained that he belonged to a strong Congress family but the party ignored him.
