State appoints 86 new medical officers

Mohali: Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab on Thursday issued appointment letters to 86 new regular Medical Officers (MBBS) appointed through Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot. Health and Family Welfare Minister, Surjit Kumar Jyani welcomed new doctors and exhorted them to work hard to serve humanity. Jyani told that recently 341 vacancies of Medical Officers (MBBS) were advertised and following the due selection procedure, first lot of 86 doctors have been appointed.

He added that next round of counseling shall be held shortly by the department, wherein more appointment letters would be issued. The induction course for these doctors has also been started simultaneously after which these doctors will join different government hospitals in the State.

Principal Secretary, Health, Vini Mahajan, people coming to government hospitals will get best healthcare facilities that too at subsidised rates. Dr H S Bali, Director Health Services, Punjab gave orientation to new doctors regarding the various health programmes launched by Health Department. DP
