Ludhiana: Where the majority of the Indians are going for digital India, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has issued an order stating that students can submit their compartment fees and forms at the counter of Education Department only.
This move has lead to a chaos at the PSEB office in Punjabi Bhawan. Long queues of students were witnessed for long hours. Elderly students and the girls were the worst sufferers.
Many of the girls on requesting anonymity claimed that there was mismanagement and the nearby public toilet was chocked due to rush so women had to go to the nearby fashion institute and some to the mini secretariat.
They also claimed that the department was harassing the students by not availing them the online payment options.
The depot officials started taking the forms from 9:00 am onwards. To handle the long queues, the books depot opened four counters at different places in Punjabi Bhawan to accept the compartment examination fees.
An official from PSEB office said, “We have extended the dates several times but now the date will not be extended. The last day to submit the fees will be final, as if we will extend the date then when would we conduct exams?”
Some students who came from the outskirts of the city said, “We reached here at 6:00 am in the morning to avoid standing in the long queues but still we stood outside the office for many hours.”
A student Aashima said, “The mismanagement made the students suffer a lot. There were no arrangement to tackle the long queues by the office authorities neither they cared of it. The department should have thought to open more such counters to tackle the rush.”
On the other hand, the employee on duty at one of the counters said, “We were also overstressed with the work, even when someone from us went to the washroom or for tea, the students started creating mess and loudly interrogated. The move of submitting the fees in this way troubled all of us.
