Mohali: During the second day of National Workshop on Animal Welfare and Related Laws the students were taken for a field visit to Hare Krishan Sudama Gaushala, at Gochar village which falls under the SAS, Nagar, Mohali.
In this Gaushala, there were all sort of cows and bulls which included accidental and non –productive also. The visit was co-ordinated by Gaurav Gaur, Assistant Professor, Centre for Social Work and Dr Deepak Sharma, Resource person at Post Graduate Govt College for Girls, Sector 42. Deepak Sharma shared the details about the evolution and ideology of this Gaushala. He shared the role of local villagers in running of this Gaushala. He also narrated the students about the administrative aspects for running such organisation.
During the visit the students met other local villagers who are acting as volunteers and engaged in selfless work from last several years. The students interacted with one of the volunteers who is devoting almost six to eight hours daily for the care and service to cows. Dr Promila Malik, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, PGGC-11, took a session on Government Programme and Policies for Animals. DP
