Faridkot: Three revenue department officials have been booked for embezzlement of funds that has to be distributed among the farmers, on Wednesday at Faridkot. The accused have been identified as Harsimran Singh serving as Tehsildar, Mahinder Singh Patwari, Nambardar of village Mahsuana.
While revealing the information, vigilance bureau said that the state government released the amount of 22 lakhs for the flood effected farmers in 2013. The compensation amount was deposited in the account of Tehsildar, who was duty bound to distribute the money among the effected farmers. An official said that instead of handing over the money to effected farmers, the revenue department officials had distributed the money among non-effected farmers.
During the investigation it has come to fore that the accused officials have forged the documents and showed the damage of crops near the river banks and residential area. Acting on the complaint the vigilance sleuths conducted a thorough investigation and registered the case against trio under section 420 (Cheating), 409 (Criminal Breach), 467 ( Forgery of valuable security), 468 ( Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged) and 120-B (Criminal conspiracy) IPC.
