Ludhiana:Three days after assuming the charge, Commissioner of police Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh forcibly retired three cops including two Assistant Sub Inspectors and constable (Munshi) for defying his orders. The harsh punishment of top cop thrilled traffic cops and they skip their duty in revolt.
Throughout the day, no traffic cop was present at checkpoints at different points and gathered at police lines to chalk out the strategy. The cops who were shunted out from the jobs also cry foul.
According to information Police Commissioner Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh has forcibly retired ASI Davinder Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Munshi Neelkanth. ASI Davinder was serving department from last 34 years, Kulwinder Singh from 27 years and Neelkanth from 24 years.
ASI Davinder said that they were deputed on duty outside Khalsa College for Women and nailed traffic violators. In afternoon, they were summoned by top cop and given the orders of premature retirement.
“We were doing our duty and got punished in reward”, said cops who were shunted out.
Police Commissioner Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh said that a day after the joining he has passed orders and directed the cops to not to issue challan for one month. He wanted the public to follow traffic rules and the cops will only create awareness. However, the cops defy his orders and issue challans.
Contrary to it, the cops who were shunted out said that they have not received any formal communication from their bosses and are doing duty in routine.
Sources said that the three cops were shunted out as they issued challan to lady who was close relative of prominent personality. The lady was baptized as per Sikh rituals and was challaned for not wearing helmet, added Sources.
