Ludhiana: Railway Protection Force caught traders with unaccounted money in the train while carrying out an extensive check at the Ludhiana Railway Station. During the checking which was conducted at the railway station, police caught two residents of District Bareli, Manish (30) and Karthik (23).
RPF officials talking to the media persons informed that they caught trader from train number 2587, Amarnath Express. The cash figure of Rs. 17 lakh was found from him in old and new currency notes. When he was asked to explain about the cash being caught from him, he failed to provide any bills of heavy amount being carried by him.
RPF officials informed Income Tax department about money being caught by them and IT department reached spot to carry out further investigations in this matter.
RPF while checking apprehended movement of this trader in trains and asked him to show his belongings after which they found money in luggage.
The Government Railway Police was also carried out the checks. Station House Officer, GRP, Inderjit Singh said that they continuously conduct checking at the railway station but on Tuesday they also received information from the higher authorities following which checking was conducted.
He further told that both of them were caught with scrapped notes and they failed to provide any documentation. Further he said that after arressting both of them they have handed over the case to the Income Tax
