Ludhiana: To keep check on traffic violations, the traffic police have decided to setup permanent check posts at various points in city.
Apart from the permanent checkpoints, the traffic police have started tyre lock system for wrongly parked vehicles, awareness drive and special check points outside schools to check underage drive.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP Traffic) Dhruv Dhaiya informed that permanent checkpoints will be installed at Samrala Chowk, Jamalpur Chowk, Basti Jodhewal Chowk and
The Check points will be established at Jalandhar bypass, old Sabzi Mandi Chowk, Reikhy Cinema Chowk, local bus stand, Jagatpuri in Haibowal, Janta Nagar, Arora Palace Chowk, Giaspura, Gill Road from 8 to 11 in morning and from 4 to 9 in evening.
The cops of traffic police and NGOs will be deputed at checkpoints and check the traffic violations.
The traffic officials informed that on Wednesday imposed 530 challans for different traffic violations in city. The Police have also collected ninety two thousand fine for traffic violations.
According to information, 55 auto rickshaws were challaned for different violations,88 for wrong parking, 259 for not wearing helmet, 58 for not wearing seat belt, 4 for entering vehicles in no entry zone, 4 for triple riding, 17 for under age driving,
Meanwhile, the traffic police have towed away 33 wrongly parked vehicles on road and also impounded two vehicles.
