Ludhiana: Meeting was held under the leadership of Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma, President UCPMA along with office bearers Inderjit Singh Navyug, Harjeet Singh Sondh, Rajeev Jain, Rajinder Singh, Rajinder Singh Sarhali, Achhru Ram Gupta regarding increase of electricity tariff which was opposed.
Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) held a meeting in to Chandigarh regarding for increase to tariff rate of electricity for upcoming three years. The power officials will take inputs from the industrialists to decide on power tariffs but this was time which was scheduled for a meeting on discussion of hike tariff i.e. 13 February-2017 at Ludhiana and was postponed by the department without any appropriate reason and now PSERC have changed the venue of meeting, which is nothing less than a shock for industrialists of Ludhiana.
Charanjit Singh told that already in today’s time the industries are going in recession due to demonetization and now hike of tariff by PSPCL. In this recession period it is the duty of the Government as well as connected department of industry to support the industry in proper way so that the industries can grow as a result the revenue for the government should increase. But sorry to say that all the departments are creating problems for the industrialists by asking money in one way or the other.
Inderjit Singh Navyug told that already the PSPCL department has changed the meter reading system. Previously the reading was done on KWH and now the reading is KVA. By such act the bills of the units have already been increased to 10 per cent.
Every consumer of SP and MS connection is giving 10 per cent extra per month to the PSPCL for the power factor. By taking this amount also the deficiency of PSPCL is not filled and further they are demanding the hike in the tariff of electricity rates showing that they are having losses.
