Ludhiana: A team of Health Branch of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) conducted special checking at the sweet shops on Tajpur Road and also on Tibba Road on Thursday.
The officials destroyed unhygienic sweets and milk which they found from these shops.
The Additional Municipal Commissioner, Amrit Kaur Gill had received a complaint that unhygienic sweets were being sold on the sweet shops on Tajpur Road and Tibba Road on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Following the receipt of the complaint, Gill formed a team of the officials. The team members were asked to conduct checking immediately.
The Medical Officer (Health), Vipul Malhotra was leading the team of officials including chief sanitary officer Sameer Singh Bajwa, sanitary inspectors Pawan Sharma, Gurmail Singh and Rajkumar.
Vipul Malhotra further told that they checked 10 shops on both the roads and found that sweets were not good to consume. Therefore, they destroyed over 2 quintal sweets and also 1 quintal milk. He told that they have issued challans to these 10 shopkeepers.
