Amritsar:With just a day left for Lohri, finding buyers for basic items such as groundnuts and rewari have left vendors in despair.
The vendors, attribute their present state of affairs to demonetization. “ While the rich prefer to purchase dry fruit items, the middle and lower class families prefer groundnuts and rewaris,” stated Ramesh Kumar, a vendor at Putli ghar bazaar.
Even the bakery shops which witness increased sales during Lohri have seen drastic fall in sales as there are hardly any vendors to purchase their products in the market.
Ramesh, a bekery owner said,” Many manufacturers of rewari and gachak start preparing atleat two months before Lohri but due to demonetization they have been rendered worthless.”
