Ludhiana: The sleuths of Vigilance Bureau have arrested a Patwari red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.7000 in Khanna on Tuesday. The accused had demanded the bribe to change the land record of Khanna resident.
The accused has been identified as Patwari Ekam Singh of Payal.
Inspector Rajinder Kumar of Vigilance Bureau said that Nirmal Singh of Khanna had lodged complaint that Patwari was demanding bribe to change the name in land record of his property. Following the complaint, a trap was laid by the VB team and Patwari was caught red handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of witnesses namely Drug Inspector and officials of Excise and Taxation Department.
The bribe money was recovered from the pocket of Patwari on the spot.
A case has been registered at Vigilance Bureau under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. After getting the police remand, the accused will be questioned.
