Muktsar: Indian Youth Congress, President, and MLA from Gidderbaha, Amarinder Singh Warring, and his four gunmen on Monday were booked on charges of assaulting an activist of Aam Aadmi Party at Guri Sanghar village.
A case under Sections 341, 323 and 34 of the IPC has been registered, stated SHO, Baljit Singh,of Kotbhai police station.
“The case has been registered against Warring by name, while his gunmen were not named by the complainant. We are investigating the matter,” added SHO.
In his complaint, Surinderpal Singh alleged, “Raja Warring and his gunmen assaulted him outside his residence on Saturday evening, just after the conclusion of Warring’s blanket distribution programme in village. They also misbehaved with my mother and hit her with sticks.”
Surinderpal said he along with some youngsters had gone to Warring’s programme, where he asked a question about covering AAP’s posters with those of Congress. “Warring did not reply and left the venue in his car. Later, he came outside my residence, along with, his gunmen thrashed me and my mother,” the complainant alleged.
Meanwhile, police have also booked Surinderpal Singh and four others on the complaint of Mandeep Singh, a Youth Congress activist from Guru Harsahai. Mandeep alleged five youngsters had damaged his Toyota Fortuner vehicle and looted Rs 50,000 on Saturday evening at Guri Sanghar village.
