Ludhiana: The long wait of the residents is going to be over on November 12 when the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal will inaugurate the world class indoor stadium at Pakhowal Road on Monday.
Constructed at the cost of Rs. 85 crores, this fully air-conditioned indoor stadium is first of its kind in state. There is arrangement of cultural program as well where Punjabi singer Harjit Harman would entertain all present.
The inaugural function would begin at 11.30am and inauguration is likely to take place at 1.30 pm after the arrival of the Deputy CM. The city residents have waited long for this stadium where there is seating capacity of 4000 persons at one time. It is spread in 3.25 acres of land where sports events like Basketball, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Fencing would be organised.
In this sports stadium along with indoor sports activities there is provision of club house, library, separate dressing rooms for the players, practice grounds for the teams, 74 shops, lifts and double basement with a capacity of parking 250-300 cars.
In the stadium state of the art fire fighting system has been installed for avoiding any untoward incident. Also 4 rain water harvesting wells have been constructed in the stadium premises.
MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the construction work of the stadium is complete and now it would be inaugurated on November 12 followed by which it would be opened for sports and other activities.
